Our Purpose
We exist to bring hope and help that are biblically-based and psychologically-informed to all people and to all aspects of human brokenness and struggles.
“Biblically-based” means our framework for understanding who we are and why we struggle the way we do is based in Scripture and rooted in the person of Christ.
“Psychologically-informed” means we are committed to thinking critically and clinically about all aspects of human personhood and its brokenness and struggle in both body and soul.
“All” people means everyone. Regardless of one’s race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), all are welcome.
Our Values
Empathy
Empathy (the emotional identification and internal connection), creates trust and safety that can lead to real change.
Vulnerability
Vulnerability is the act of casting off all forms of deception, control and power (that is rooted in mistrust and fear) and moving from a place of aloneness and brokenness toward connection and wholeness.
Co-Sufferer
Because suffering and sin are common to all, we struggle together with and for all those we serve.
Ministry
While fees are a necessary part of the counseling relationship, it is not the basis of our service and care.
Partnership with Churches
Resources
Inform and equip church staff and leaders to shepherd well.
Inform and equip members to care for one another well (e.g., pre-marital, marital, and parenting seminars).
Referrals
Provide counseling services for church members.
About David
dpak@thewaybcm.com
David has always had a passion to know and love God and people and to compassionately care for souls. David’s educational journey began by completing his B.S. in Psychology through University of California Davis, then pursing studies in Marriage and Family Therapy at Sacramento State University, and earning his Masters of Divinity through Fuller Theological Seminary. But it was David’s studies in Biblical Counseling through Westminster Theological Seminary and Christian Counseling Education Foundation that defined his counseling ministry and practice. David’s extensive education and experience have helped him to better understand the human struggle through a biblical lens. David continues to strive to better understand who God is and how He rescues us, who we are and why we do what we do, and how God pursues us in His love and changes us by His grace.
David has been married to his wife, Joanne, since 1997 and they live with their two children, Caleb and Abigail in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
